Gemstone / Gemstone Properties

Introduction
Gemstones are naturally occurring, or artificially made minerals which are usually cut and chiselled for ornamental and industrial purposes. A large part of contemporarily popular gemstones have a silica (silicon dioxide) base; indeed, it can be said that most gemstones are composed of a derivative of sand! Gemstones are generally hard – with diamond considered the hardest substance known. These stones have been revered and used for thousands of years throughout civilization, and though rare in occurrence, they're found almost throughout the world. Sri Lanka, Brazil, India and Africa contain some of the largest deposits of gemstones. They are associated with a lot of properties. Gemstones can help unblock the body's chakras, and when worn properly, can help in physical, mental and spiritual healing.
